ORG Portland State University Title Associate CIO, Technology Infrastructure, Office of Information Technology BIO Ryan Bass is the Associate CIO for Technology Infrastructure at Portland State University, a large urban research university in Portland, Oregon. His portfolio encompasses data center and cloud infrastructure, networking and telecommunications, research computing, endpoint engineering, enterprise databases, and identity management. Recent accomplishments include acting as co-lead for a complete redesign of Portland State's student web portal, championing the migration of our disaster recovery site to cloud infrastructure, and sponsoring the successful migration to a new identity management ecosystem with over 700,000 identities. In 2005 Ryan moved from the private sector to higher education, and has become a strong believer in higher education's purpose and positive impact on people’s lives. He is an active member of the EDUCAUSE community, and a graduate of the EDUCAUSE Leadership Institute. Ryan is also connected with regional groups such as the Northwest Academic Computing Consortium and the Oregon Gigapop. Ryan has a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science degree from Seattle University and a Master of Business Administration degree from Portland State University. In his free time he enjoys being with his wife and two young children, backpacking, skiing, and the occasional round of golf.
