ORG University of California, Los Angeles-Hammer Museum Title BIO Jeanne Hoel is an artist and Youth Programs/Outreach Coordinator at the UCLA Hammer Museum. At the Hammer, Hoel works with UCLA student docents and k-12 teachers learning to use the Visual Thinking Strategies (VTS) method, an open-ended, discussion-based method of teaching art that she uses frequently in the mueum. Hoel coordinates community outreach efforts at the Hammer, including events and workshops for students and teachers in the Los Angeles Unified School District. While in Chicago, Hoel taught studio art and worked as a curatorial assistant in the field of public art on projects including the 1998 Dakar Bienal in Senegal and "Evoking History," a series of community dialogue projects at the 2000 Spoleto Festival in Charleston. Hoel's own artwork has been exhibited at the Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago and the Arizona State University Art Museum in Phoenix. Hoel received a B.F.A. from the Maryland Institute College of Art and attended the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.
