Samuel has an Adjunct Faculty appointment in the Department of Computer Science, College of Engineering, at NC State University. His area of expertise is in Cyber Security and he has taught a number of courses involving computer and network security. As a security practitioner, Samuel believes in an active learning method of instruction that balances theory and practice.
Courses taught: CSC402 - Network and Security Projects, CSC405 - Computer Security, CSC474 - Network Security, and CSC499 - Independent Research. He has also guest lectured in many other undergraduate and graduate classes.
Security Interests: Cryptography, Authentication and Authorization Systems, Computer Systems Security and Administration, Network and Host-based Attacks
Current faculty co-advisor for the National Collegiate Cyber Defense Competition (CCDC), International Capture the Flag (iCTF), and National Cyber League student security competition teams at NCSU. Also faculty co-advisor for NCSU Information Assurance Student Group.
