Global Summit Cancellation Information

In light of the current circumstances related to the rapidly evolving coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) outbreak, we’ve made the difficult decision to cancel the 2020 Internet2 Global Summit. The safety and well-being of our community colleagues, members, and staff is our top priority, and we feel that it is impossible to provide a safe environment for Global Summit attendees at this time. 
 
We have been closely monitoring the latest news and guidance related to the COVID-19 outbreak from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the World Health Organization (WHO), and local health departments. Based on this guidance and the information we have gathered, including specific guidance for mass gatherings, large community events, and travel, we cannot risk holding the meeting and putting the health of our community members, staff, and the surrounding public in danger. 
 
We sincerely appreciate the community concern and input we have received, and we recognize the difficult decisions that our own members are having to make as they plan for the potential impact of the outbreak. We also recognize the great community efforts for all the work that went into creating the conference.

We previously asked you to hold the dates for March 30-31 as we contemplated our plans to deliver some of the great content previously scheduled to be presented onsite through a live online event. We have decided to delay that programming until a later date and at a more appropriate time.

We are extremely mindful that the Internet2 community and the broader R&E community around the globe are dealing with their own unique situations with regards to the COVID-19 impacts. We feel it is important that we focus our time and energy on maintaining our infrastructure and services in order to ensure smooth business operations for the community. 

We are continuously monitoring the COVID-19 situation and we will make further announcements about our online plans as we learn more and we look forward to sharing those with you at a future date.
 
Internet2 will issue refunds of conference registration fees and will contact registered attendees separately with information on the refund process. Attendees with reservations at the conference hotel may cancel such reservations without penalty up to 72 hours prior to arrival.
