Mark Johnson is the (Interim) Assistant Vice Chancellor for Communications
Technologies at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He was formerly CTO at MCNC where he led regional and national networking initiatives for many years. He is a 2-time past chair of the Quilt and served as Interim Executive Director of US UCAN from 2011-2012. Mark has been been active in telecom policy, helping form the Quilt’s policy group and serving on the FCC’s Broadband Deployment Advisory Committee Removing Barriers to Broadband Deployment WG. He was a founding board member of the Schools, Health, and Libraries Broadband Coalition and currently serves on the boards of the Research Triangle High School and the Internet Legacy Institute.
