Internet2 Inclusivity Initiative: Challenges Faced and Lessons Learned from Community Women Tech Leaders
Time 12/10/19 12:10PM-01:40PM
Room Borgne (3rd)
This session is open to all Technology Exchange attendees who are interested in learning more about diversity and inclusivity across the broad research and education community. Lunch will be provided; please get your food and beverage from the foyer (meeting level 3) before proceeding to meeting room.
In this session, Internet2 vice president of community engagement Ana Hunsinger will present a brief update on the initiative and recognize the Inclusivity Initiative scholarship recipients, NSRC-Internet2 fellows, and Women In Networking at SC (WINS) recipients. Dedra Chamberlin, founder and CEO of Cirrus Identity, will moderate a panel discussion with two former Internet2 Inclusivity Initiative scholarship awardees, Sarvani Chadalapaka and Colleen Morrissey, founder of Spherical Cow Consulting Heather Flanagan, and director of identity management at Oregon State University Erica Lomax. They will share about their experiences as tech leaders within their respective organizations, including the creation of their own DEI initiatives and mentorship programs. They will also talk about the challenges they’ve faced throughout their careers related to DEI, including leading a diverse technical team and what they have found works well for them. The session will conclude with a 15 minute networking opportunity to meet others within the community that care about diversity, equity and inclusion efforts. We welcome you to join us to learn more about the Internet2 Inclusivity Initiative and to engage in discussion around improving diversity, equity and inclusivity within IT and the R&E community.
