NetDash: Open-source Project for Delegated Network Device Management
Time 12/11/19 02:00PM-02:20PM
The decentralized nature of universities has by necessity led to the development of tools to provide delegation of limited network device management. Each university seems to have hacked together a collection of perl scripts 15 years ago to accomplish this task. No open source project has yet emerged to modernize and modularize a common solution.
The NetDash project is a collaboration between several universities to create an application that will provide self-service and delegation capabilities. The project plans to ship built-in features for common use cases like basic port management, and also allow for the addition of modules that will let institutions provide custom behavior in the same interface.
This talk will discuss the architecture, collaboration plans, and the initial feature set for NetDash.
