Securing Hybrid Cloud & On-Prem Applications
Time 12/11/19 11:20AM-12:10PM
Room Nottoway (4th)
On-premise workloads typically reside in a comfortable nest of security controls (e.g., centrally managed firewall, use of private IP addresses, full packet inspection capable intrusion detection systems, inventory systems, etc.). It's common for the workload owner to be blissfully unaware of the protections deployed within their institution's data center.
Migrating workloads to the cloud upends the "default" controls, and requires a re-assessment and re-architecting of mitigation strategy and implementation. Applications that are split between cloud and on-prem components can further complicate threat mitigation.
This presentation will provide a tour of IU's investigation into accommodating cloud and hybrid workload mitigation requirements, including an overview of approach moving forward.
