Hotel & Travel Information

Alert to Technology Exchange Attendees and Registrants:

Internet2 has learned that a third-party company has been contacting Technology Exchange speakers and attendees making certain claims about hotel availability, room rates or changed deadlines. Internet2 does not use any third-party companies or wholesaler organizations to make hotel reservations or arrangements. Any third-party company or wholesaler contacting you directly via phone or email is not associated with Internet2. When Internet2 contracts with a hotel, there is an associated room block given to Internet2 at an agreed upon, discounted rate. This rate is determined far in advance of the event.  Third party companies or wholesalers cannot knowingly book attendees in the Internet2 room block, and often the rooms booked through such third parties are not guaranteed to be available or come with additional, hidden fees. The only way to book a hotel room for the Technology Exchange is for attendees to call the hotel directly, to utilize the web link provided by Internet2, or through a rooming list provided directly to the hotel by Internet2 staff.

We encourage you to treat any solicitations with caution and we recommend that you avoid making reservations through third parties. If you have any questions or concerns about your existing reservation, or if you receive an email or phone call from a company offering a hotel and travel booking service, please contact meetings@internet2.edu. Please note that Internet2 does not publish email addresses or phone numbers nor do we sell names or email addresses to third parties. More information can be found here in Internet2's privacy policy.

2019 Technology Exchange attendees are strongly encouraged to stay at the Sheraton New Orleans Hotel, which is on Canal Street, a major thoroughfare in the city. Canal Street forms the upriver boundary of the city's oldest neighborhood, the French Quarter or Vieux Carré. It historically served as the dividing line between the colonial-era city and the newer American Sector, today's Central Business District.

Today Canal Street is served along its entire length by a newly restored streetcar system that makes frequent stops near major downtown hotels and at all key cross streets.
