The Value of Using Peer Assessment to Enhance Institutional IT Security
Time 03/08/19 08:45AM-10:00AM
This session will feature a panel of CIOs from Internet2 member institutions, who will share their experiences using the Research and Education Network Information Sharing and Analysis Center (REN-ISAC) to provide a thorough external assessment by peers (CISOs and CIOs) of their institution’s policies, practices, methods, and resources devoted to better secure information environments and resources. The use of “outside eyes” to leverage capable local information security resources adds tremendous value, and an assessment by peers who have direct, applicable experience to campus environments -- rather than vendors or commercial security consultants – increases that value.
