Securing Your Reality: Addressing Security and Privacy in Virtual and Augmented Reality Applications
Time 10/18/18 04:00PM-04:50PM
Recent advances in head-mounted displays (HMDs) for both virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) have made dramatic improvements in the devices’ efficacy and affordability. Because of this paradigm shift, VR and AR are poised to become an integral part of the higher education technology environment; on some campuses, this is already the case. Integrating VR and AR in higher education makes possible many applications -
however, VR/AR use also raises security issues that institutions must understand and mitigate through the application of general security principles. This session will include presentations and a panel discussion from topic experts at Internet2 on how universities are addressing security and privacy in VR/AR today, as well as planning for the future.
