Improving the Identity Discovery Process: A Demo and Report on the Findings of the RA21 Project
Time 10/17/18 10:20AM-11:10AM
Session Abstract
RA21 project has been working since 2016 to remove some of the barriers blocking the move to federated identity by testing out new ideas via pilot projects and from there, determining best practice for future implementations. In particular, the project has focused on the identity provider discovery process, a process which currently drives many users away from properly authenticating and using federated services.
Many members of the federation community have been watching for the outputs of this effort, and IdP operators need to be engaged as well to prepare for a tighter integration with the library representatives on their campuses. This session will offer a live demonstration of the recommendations via the user experience, and describe what we've learned in our outreach with libraries, our reviews with IT security professionals, and our interactions with SAML SPs (in particular, scholarly publishers).
