Beyond the Wiki: Federating Applications in Support of Research
Time 10/16/18 10:20AM-11:10AM
Session Abstract
Our panel will discuss the process and unique challenges of federating multiple applications to support research and collaboration across a variety of disciplines. Specifically we will discuss federating and integrating
-Jupyterhub to streamline delivering Jupyter Notebook web applications using CILogon and eduGAIN IdPs.
-GNU Mailman 3 and COmanage to integrate group based list subscription with federated user lifecycle management for the Murchison Widefield Array (MWA) radio astronomy telescope project and the SWAMID Federationand its virtual organizations.
- The MWA node of the Australian All-Sky Virtual Observatory (ASVO) to enable researchers to access raw and pre processed radio astronomy data from the MWA (one of four Square Kilometre Array (SKA) precursor observatories) via a federated identity management system.
- Bedework, an open-source enterprise calendar system to support group calendaring for the MWA telescope project.
- SharePoint, Aspera Shares, GitHub, AWS, Slack, REDCap, and still more applications to support research communities as part of the International Centers for Excellence in Research (ICER) project at the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) at the National Institutes of Health (NIH)
