Christopher WhalenORG National Institutes of Health (NIH) Title International Program Manager BIO Chris Whalen has built information technology and communication systems in support of biomedical research at national and international medical research facilities since 1995. Currently, he leads the NIAID Office of Cyerinfrastructure and Computational Biosciences, international support program. Mr. Whalen specializes in the IT needs of field research, and focuses on identifying, developing, and implementing IT infrastructure and service solutions to assist these unique requirements. He began supporting research efforts in low- to middle-income countries in the late 1990’s and has since focused much of his efforts on the NIAID International Centers for Excellence in Research in Mali, Uganda, and India. Recently, his projects have targeted meeting the data collection and validation needs of clinical researchers working in regions with poor infrastructure including the use of mobile technologies while adhering to international standards and regulations.
