SFJAZZ MasterClass Demonstration
Time 10/16/17 05:45PM-06:30PM
Room Grand Ballroom B/C
SFJAZZ views REN as having a collective energy discriminately connecting the world. Our focus is to bring communities together through the lens of jazz. SFJAZZ’s participation on the network exists within a concept titled “Opening Portals to the World of Jazz.” We will demonstrate a three-site jazz master class, featuring artists – Robin Eubanks (SFJAZZ Collective) and Adam Theis (Jazz Mafia) as masters, a SFJAZZ Monday Night Band ensemble, and a Stanford University student musician as participants.
Using this technology, we will also speak to the subject matter experts of the two platform applications used in the demonstration – JackTrip and UltraGrid. Chris Chafe (JackTrip), Director of Stanford University’s Center for Computer Research in Music and Acoustics, and, Milos Liska (UltraGrid), Senior Developer with CESNET and Masaryk University will join in the experience from Palo Alto and the Czech Republic, respectively. Mount Allen, SFJAZZ Director of Operations and developer of the Portals Project, will moderate the experience.
