Approaches to Implementing User Consent

Time 10/16/17 11:20AM-12:10PM

Room Bayview B

Session Abstract

Providing a straightforward way for an end user to provide informed consent to the release of attributes and enjoy the benefits of an enhanced experience with various web-based services. At least two approaches have emerged. CAR (Consent-informed Attribute Release) went into production at Duke University over the summer. User-Managed Access (UMA) is an OAuth-based access management protocol developed by a work group under the aegis of the Kantara Initiative. This session will include information about both of these approaches, helping you determine if one of these might just make your job easier.
