UCSC is deploying a pilot Ceph file system in its Science DMZ, which is connected to Internet through a dedicated 100G fiber. The Ceph file system is mounted on all Data Transfer Nodes (DTNs) and research computing systems within SciDMZ. We use the Ceph storage to transfer large data between UCSC and other research institutions. Further we're exploring innovative ways to use it as a powerful storage platform for HPC (High-Performance Computing), HEP (High Energy Physics) as well Data Science applications.
