Secure Infrastructure for Research on CUI
Time 10/16/17 10:20AM-11:10AM
Room Seacliff A
The federal government is implementing a uniform security approach for protecting CUI (controlled unclassified information) in non-federal systems and organizations. As a result, many research grants and contracts will include the requirement to handle research data as described in the NIST publication 800-171.
The University of Florida (UF) implemented processes and technology to address these new requirements. We will discuss the details of the approach taken including how UF structured its human resources, the workflow employed to manage compliance, and the information technology stack that was deployed to meet these new requirements.
This session will describe the methodology taken by the University of Florida and provide the blueprint on how it can be replicated at other institutions.
