Time 10/16/17 10:40AM-11:10AM

Session Abstract

The session focuses on technical and professional development aspects of SCinet, the network infrastructure built for the annual Supercomputing Conference. The session will provide an introduction and overview of SCinet itself and the SCinet teams that are tasked with building the conference infrastructure each year. SCinet volunteers from the NSF and DoE funded Women in IT Networking at SC (WINS) program will discuss the technical work performed during SC17. In addition, a SCinet team lead and a manager from the volunteer’s home organization will provide additional context for how the technical and professional growth activities fit strategically within their organizations. Presentations by the panelists will be followed by a question and answer session covering the exposure to new technologies and expert engineers as well as opportunities to expand the professional networks associated with SCinet including the impact the WINS program has on expanding diversity within the community.
