Understanding your Network with Netsage

In science and engineering, it's often stated: if you can't measure it, does it really matter? For networks, if you can't see the performance, if you can't tell who's using them, how will you improve them? How will you resolve problems effectively or meet end user demands?
This session will detail the NetSage infrastructure that is being built and deployed specifically to address these needs. With NetSage, we can better understand current traffic patterns across the links, focus on understanding growth trends for capacity-planning purposes, and understand where packet loss is occurring.
NetSage provides an unprecedented combination of passive measurements, including SNMP data, flow data, and Tstat traffic analysis, as well as active measurements, mainly perfSONAR, and longitudinal network performance data visualization. With canonical test points, and an all open-source code base, including a global science registry, we can offer unique insights into your networks performance.
