PrivaScope: Using Administrative Network Data to Support Research while Preserving Privacy

This talk will give an overview of the PrivaScope project at the University of Michigan, which is in the process of deploying 20,000 WiFi access points. The project seeks to support mobility-related research, learning analytics, and social research by faculty by enabling access to operational network data in a privacy preserving manner. This talk will deal with the twin challenges of understanding the data and preserving privacy.
