Title Chief Information Security Officer
Adam Slagell, CISSP, has his feet firmly planted in both security operations and research at NCSA. He is active in several NSF communities (e.g., Teragrid III or XD, the Blue Waters sustained petascale computing initiative, and the GENI federated global network testbed), where he uses his experience in threat and risk analysis to balance competing usability and security needs within collaborative security frameworks. His research focuses on concrete problems in computer security and building tools that can be used in the real world. Currently, he is co-PI on a $3,000,000 NSF award to bring many research features to production in the the Bro Intrusion Detection System. In the past, he led the LAIM group in the development of the FLAIM anonymization framework. Other research has included the development of cryptographic schemes for secure group communication and the development of several security visualization tools.
