Community Virtual Reality Center
Time 04/24/17 07:00AM-05:30PM
Virtual and augmented reality technologies are an important emerging space for the research and education community. It is difficult to describe the impact of these technologies without firsthand experience - seeing is believing. Visit the Community VR Center to try virtual and augmented realities for yourself, including the Oculus Rift, HTC Vive, Microsoft Hololens, Samsung GearVR, and Google Cardboard. In addition, experience community projects including the winner from last fall's Internet2 Hololens contest, a mixed reality dance experience from the Rochester Institute of Technology. The Rochester Institute of Technology won last fall’s Hololens Augmented Reality Application contest hosted by Internet2 with their submission of "Mixed Reality for Live Performances”. This year they are back to present the results of their project that combines AR, VR, and motion capture with two live demonstrations. Join us at the scheduled times to view a live performance in virtual and augmented reality as well as live streaming video of the behind-the-scenes action! These experiences are made possible through the efforts of the University of Cincinnati Center for Simulations & Virtual Environments Research, the Rochester Institute of Technology, and the Internet2 Metaverse Working Group.
