Session Abstract
Education is now the top target for ransomware—a booming business with more than $1B ransom payments in 2016, and it's only getting worse. Value intellectual property (IP) is at stake for cybercriminals to claim. While ransomware is more sophisticated, insider threats—intentional or not—is also dangerous user behavior brought on by a more transient faculty and staff. Throw in mobility and the use of faculty-owned devices and it’s impossible to argue that data on university campuses isn't likely to be compromised.
Hear Russ Ward, CISO of The University of Alabama talk about the proactive investments his university is making to protect and preserve IP across all departments.
