Gender Diversity in the Internet2 Community
Time 04/25/17 11:45AM-01:15PM
The Internet2 Gender Diversity Initiative was developed to provide support for women in the field of information technology and the Internet2 community. In addition to creating the GDI Scholarship Program to encourage women to attend Internet2’s conferences, Internet2 and its member institutions have a special collaborative partnership with the Society of Women Engineers called The SWE@Internet2 Community. Increasing diversity in our workplaces and our community can help drive innovation and the development of well rounded and fresh ideas.
This gathering is for anyone—female or male—who is responsible for contributing to the success of their organization or anyone interested in the topics of gender diversity, unconscious bias and hiring. Please join us for discussion and networking. The tentative program for our gathering will include:
- an update on where the Internet2 Gender Diversity is today including an update on the work with the National Center for Women and Information Technology (NCWIT)
- a recognition of the 2016 Global Summit GDI awardees and the SWE@internet2 community
- a facilitated discussion that will include community leaders discussing “Male Advocacy and Allies: how can they help in promoting gender diversity in technology workplaces” (Tentative Title)
- and open discussion on what we can do jointly into the future.
Please note that this working meeting will have access to the conference lunch. For your convenience, this lunch station will be located on the meeting room floor.
