Time 04/25/17 03:00PM-04:00PM

Room Mount Vernon B

Session Abstract

The need for institutions to ensure the safety and security of their faculty, staff and students is of highest priority. E-911, emergency communications, government mandates, personal-safety initiatives, personal connected devices, as well as interdepartmental collaboration, are all real-life tools available to enhance campus safety. A campus response environment will include:

  • telephone calls,
  • alarms,
  • radio communications,
  • video surveillance,
  • voice recording,
  • E-911,
  • safety escorts,
  • messaging,
  • emergency notifications,
  • access control,
  • mobile devices,
  • pan-tilt-zoom camera controls,
  • integrated analytics,
  • maps,
  • software,
  • telephones,
  • computers servers,
  • redundancy,
  • survivability, and more.

Technology can enable the communication of overwhelming amounts of real-time and recorded information instantly available to college and university police and safety staff. Hear police and IT partners from North Dakota State University describe how their campus police and safety environments are embracing and managing the growing information resource, what the impacts are, and where they hope to see technology go in the future.
