Using Network Data Collection Tools to Dynamically Visualize & Secure Campus Networks
Time 09/26/16 01:30PM-02:20PM
As universities work to secure their networks from attacks and advanced persistent threats there are lessons that can be learned from the commercial and government sectors. One best practice is to dynamically map your network hosts by combining traffic flows and other data collection tools to identify security vulnerabilities. This session will show what we have done to make this happen, partnering with Dr. Deepinder Sidhu from our computer science department, and a third party to merge existing data collection tools into a comprehensive real time view of the network focused around cyber security analytics and the automated creation of virtual cyber ranges based on the mapping data. We will give campuses some lessons learned as well as where we see this effort in supporting future cybersecurity initiatives.
