UW Madison is undergoing an architectural transformation in its’ approach to identity management. Rapidly scaling identity to meet emerging business needs while preserving user preference and privacy is driving a profile-based approach that empowers users to control their own identity data. Institutional systems can attribute organizational/role information to user-managed identities and users can use a variety of internal and external credentials to access institutional applications and federated services in this profile-based, user-centric identity architecture.
