Introducing pScheduler, perfSONAR’s New Scheduler
Time 09/27/16 09:30AM-09:50AM
For over a decade, perfSONAR’s measurement activities have been coordinated by the Bandwidth Test Controller (BWCTL). The upcoming release of perfSONAR replaces BWCTL with the perfSONAR Scheduler (pScheduler).
pScheduler is a new-from-the-ground-up system that brings numerous features and improvements, many requested by the perfSONAR user community. Among them are insight into the timeline of tests that were, are and will be run, easy-to-access accounting for test results and failures, better programmatic control through a new REST API, better regular testing and the ability to make testing tools more intelligent. A key feature is a plugin architecture which will allow perfSONAR’s repertoire of tests, tools and archiving mechanisms to be expanded by the community.
This session will cover pScheduler’s origins, terminology and concepts, new and improved features, how to use it to run tests on perfSONAR nodes and plans for the future. It is recommended that those attending have prior experience using perfSONAR.
