Automating the Discovery of Failing Cross Domain Flows Using XSight

Time 09/27/16 11:30AM-11:50AM

Room Trianon

Session Abstract

XSight is a distributed network measurement infrastructure that gathers extended TCP metrics (Web10G) from real world bulk data flows. Listener agents, strictly focused on cross domain traffic between Data Transfer Nodes on Science DMZs, report real time metrics to a central time series database. This collated data is mined by an analysis agent using heuristics and algorithms to find and classify unhealthy flows and paths. The results of the analysis are then made available to NOCs and engineers via a web based UI or through custom built clients. The result is actionable information presented in near real time that can be used by NOCs to proactively identify and rectify performance issues on R&E networks.
