Further Defining a Global Network Architecture

Time 05/17/16 01:15PM-02:30PM

Room Chicago Ballroom (5th Floor)

Session Abstract

The Global Network Architecture (GNA) Technical working group aims at creating a framework for a high-performance state of the art global network interconnect for R&E. In 2015, the working group produced a series of documents that outline the progress being made on defining the GNA framework. For example, progress is being made on standardizing Open Exchange Points requirements; and also on how autonomous networks will interwork and operate on a global scale. Building on these documents, the GNA tech group also is beginning to define future work areas. For example, the role of software and the automation of networks is now on the agenda of the GNA tech group. This session will update the audience on the current state of the GNA framework, will discuss current pathfinders, and will dive into future looking goals. There will be 4 presentations plus Q and A, including:

Talk 1: Intro to GNA and review of current framework, 15 minutes.

Talk 2: The role of software in building advanced Global R&E Networks, 15 minutes

Talk 3: Defining and adding new GNA pathfinders, 15 minutes

Talk 4: Development of a 100G collaborative infrastructure across the Pacific, 15 minutes

Questions/wrap-up, 15 minutes
