Why Working With Your Registrar Can be Fun and Fruitful

Time 10/07/15 08:00AM-08:50AM

Room Room 25-C

Session Abstract

When it comes to attribute release, IT people love to hate on the registrar. FERPA this and privacy that. But sometimes (most times?) it is the IT department that is standing in the way of sharing information. InCommon has many initiatives underway that would benefit from the release of a small set of attributes (that are generally considered directory information anyway): the Research & Scholarship Category and interfederation chief among them. By working with your registrar, you can make life easier for your researchers, your faculty, your staff, and even yourself! Our speakers will talk about how they've built a mutually beneficial relationship and how releasing a small set of attributes to all services can make everyone happy.
