Real Time Provisioning with a Robust Identity Management Framework

Time 10/07/15 01:55PM-02:20PM

Room Room 25-C

Session Abstract

Temple University has built an identity management framework (encompassing policies, processes, technology, and resources) that manages the identities of over 50,000 community members who are broken down into roles used to determine entitlements to digital resources. A newly crafted Office of Continuing Education had a high priority business need that added another dimension to an already complex landscape; email, Blackboard, and Active Directory accounts for Continuing Education students had to be provisioned in real time. This presentation walks through the building blocks, the design, and various challenges behind the successful implementation. (Temple University used ellucian Banner for its ERP system and Destiny One for its hosted Continuing Education catalog and registration systems, but the concepts described in the presentation can be applied elsewhere.)
