Long Term Digital Preservation

Time 10/06/15 09:00AM-09:50AM

Room Room 25-B

Session Abstract

The Digital Preservation Network (DPN) is a membership organization consisting of over 60 colleges and universities.
Its goal is to develop, enhance, and sustain an enabling digital preservation infrastructure to ensure that the content, and associated meta-data, arising from research and scholarship are replicated and preserved across diverse software architectures; organizations; geographic regions; and political and economic environments.

DPN is a complex adaptive preservation ecosystem that grows and evolves to address new forms of scholarship, changing formats and the evolution of software and technology platforms.

DPN staff, member institution representatives, and technology partners will describe the collaborative workflow ecosystem which supports the collection of preservation objects, replication of data across networks, and ensures the long term viability of scholarly works by architecting around single points of failure broadly conceived (i.e., technical failure, political failure, organizational failure, geographic failure).”
