Session Abstract

The Michigan Cyber Range (MCR) is an excellent example of a public-private partnership that has been able to deliver a cloud-based cyber security education program that leverages the power of virtualization to create a secure environment for students, instructors, and researchers. The partnership includes the State of Michigan, Merit Network, and industry sponsors. It is operated by the Merit Network, 501(c )3 non-profit corporation that connects to sites nationwide through its agreements with other states’ research and education networks and its membership in Internet2.

This talk will cover how an organization can take steps to create a public-private partnership. It will discuss what makes the partnership work and what an organization can expect from this relationship. The discussion will conclude with examples that the MCR has delivered to the partnership that meet the partners’ needs and helps sustain the relationship in a concrete way.
