Collaboration Through Interactive and Streaming Video Across the Academic World
Session Abstract
Video is eating the internet, and with the rise of streaming and interactive video services university–aged students are consuming more of it than ever — watching an average of 398 online videos per month. Against this backdrop, educational institutions are increasingly looking to incorporate video into their online courses and blended learning initiatives. Using online and interactive video can create engaging learning experiences for their students, amplify the reach of great teaching, and enable new business models by reaching new learner audiences. It's the power of the cloud that's underpinning institutions' ability to use video in these ways. Video is complex — but with cloud-based delivery, universities can now meet the consumerized expectations of today's students. In this session, representatives from three universities will explore the trends and technologies surrounding the use of cloud video for online learning — and will demonstrate how they have have leveraged cloud video to create powerful learning experiences for their students. This session will cover deployments of online video platforms from MediaCore and Kaltura as well as the interactive video platform from Vidyo and IDSolutions.
