Common Design Elements for Data Movement

Time 02/10/15 11:00AM-11:30AM

Room Second Floor Auditorium

Session Abstract

Astrophysics and cosmology are grappling with dramatic increases in data volume, and the need to move data between instruments, facilities, and scientists. A set of common elements or “design patterns” has emerged for effectively addressing the challenges of moving large amounts of data between large-scale resources. This talk will describe these common elements, and explore their relevance to astrophysics and cosmology. Discussion on the suitability of these technologies for this community, gap analysis, and other related topics will be encouraged.
