Experimenting with Network Policies, or the Art of Running Untrusted Applications in Your Production Network
Time 10/29/14 01:30PM-02:15PM
R&E networks are facing challenges to handle rapidly increasing networking demands from sciences. Not only the necessary bandwidth needs might financially overwhelm network organizations, but modern scientific workflows will require more customization on how network services are delivered. When adding or updating hardware is not possible, existing technologies must be used in a more agile manner so resources are better utilized, and their behavior better adapted to the need of the applications. Software Defined Networking (SDN) has shown that a logically centralized control plane facilitates automation of traffic engineering, as well as providing hooks for special treatment of application data flows.
