The University of Arizona's Experience with the Internet2 Innovation Platform - 100GE, Science DMZ, SDN

Time 10/29/14 03:30PM-04:15PM

Room White River Ballroom A

Session Abstract

In July 2013 the Arizona Universities (UofA, ASU, NAU) completed the
rollout of the Sun Corridor, the Arizona research and education network.
In May 2014 the Sun Corridor completed one of its two 100GE connections
to the I2 Innovation Platform in Tucson, AZ. In June 2014 the UofA
began the implementation of a research network which leverages SDN over
dark fiber and MPLS L2 VPNs. At this time we also started building out
our Science DMZ.

This session will focus on our experiences from a network engineer point
of view. We will discuss our expectations, technical challenges, and
eventual successful implementation. The session will be of interest to
other network engineers who are planning or starting a similar process.
