The Science DMZ and the CIO - Data Intensive Science and the Enterprise

The Science DMZ model provides a platform for high-performance data mobility and data placement in support of data-intensive science, as well as an entry point for advanced services such as Openflow/SDN. This talk will discuss the strategic impact of the Science DMZ in the US science complex, as well as key factors that contribute to the successful deployment of a Science DMZ. In addition, the difference in Science DMZ traffic profile from an Enterprise traffic profile will be discussed, including the advantages of cybersecurity approaches for each.
