SDN Innovation and Use Cases in Research Networks
Time 10/30/14 08:30AM-09:15AM
Session Abstract
The session is intended as a set of 'Lightning Talks' addressing the use of SDN technologies in Research and Education Networks (RENs).
Currently, a number of SDN products/solutions are available on the market. For a single REN it is difficult to assess usability of available tools, however RENs are already testing or providing services based on SDN.
The main objective of the session is to gather and exchange information about experiences with the usage of SDN technologies in the RENs around the globe. The lightning talks will briefly describe the use cases and will focus on SDN tools used to deliver the required functionality and provide overview of issues faced by the RENs. A short discussion at the end of the session devoted to potential collaborations is foreseen.
The expected outcomes are:
- identification of common SDN-related problems addressed by RENs globally
- information exchange about SDN software products
- establishment of closer cooperation between RENs in the area of SDN developments
The list of speakers include representatives of: GEANT, Internet2, RNP, JGN-X and LHCONE.
