Alejandro Hinojosa

ORG CICESE Title BIO B. Sc. Oceanology, 1979, UABC, Mexico. M. Sc. Computer Sciences, 1988, CICESE. Most of his professional career has been at CICESE research center in Ensenada, Baja California, Mexico, starting in 1980 where he now lectures in the Earth Sciences graduate program. He has participated in 38 M. Sc. thesis advisory group directing 10 of them. His research interests are the application of geographic information systems (GIS) and remote sensing techniques in multidisciplinary workgroups applying scientific visualization aids. During 2003 he received a visiting research fellow grant for the center for US-Mexican Studies, UCSD. He also worked for Telesis Corporation in San Diego Ca., as a Senior GIS and Remote Sensing Research Analyst, integrating web mapping services for the US-Mexico Health Border Commission. For the 2011-2012 academic year, he received a Fulbright visiting scholar grant to do research at Scripps Institution of Oceanography/UCSD and Arizona State University on remote sensing data and techniques on Earth surface processes. He has also received grants from the UC-MEXUS system to do collaborative research with scientists from University of California system. He is member of the Mexican "Sistema Nacional de Investigadores" for his published science.
