Leveraging SEGP to Create a State Education Network
Time 04/22/13 03:00PM-04:00PM
Session Abstract
How do you integrate disparate local ISPs into a state education network if your state can't afford to build one? Vermont is using Internet 2's SEGP program and the University's interstate broadband connections to encourage and support the development of an integrated K-20 education and research network within the state. The key to success has been having a consistent vision, developing partnerships and alliances both within the University and with ISPs, focusing on the education and science rather than the technology, and an abundance of patience. We'll review the context, fiscal and geographic constraints, opportunities, and challenges to developing this state network.
