Developing a Unified Network Information Service
Time 01/16/13 10:20AM-10:40AM
Session Abstract
Envisioned as a successor to the perfSONAR Lookup and Topology Services, UNIS has matured in ways that improve its scalability and generality. Recent developments include a RESTful re-implementation of the perfSONAR protocols and the integration of no-SQL databases for performance. This talk will include a discussion of service and metadata registration in our measurement caching and analysis framework called Periscope. We will also highlight the role of UNIS in enabling clients to determine network reachability and discovery of services like Phoebus. In addition, we will describe more recent extensions that demonstrate UNIS as a "northbound" interface for
Software Defined Networks.
