OpenFlow/SDN (Software Defined Networking)/LISP (Locator/ID Separation Protocol) - New Technologies for R&E Networks

Session Abstract

This panel will consist of speakers from several industry participants who will discuss upcoming new technologies that have the potential to affect research and education networks. both regional and campus. Charles Clark of Hewlett-Packard will discuss OpenFlow and its effect on lowering network operating costs. Rajesh Dhople from Brocade Communications will discuss OpenFlow and its applicability to R&E networks, backbone networks, GigaPoPs, and Cloud datacenters. James Stankiewicz from NJEdge.Net and Michael Kowal of Cisco Systems will give an overview of LISP, a new Routing Architecture that is a simple, incrementally deployable, network-based protocol, and discuss how NJEdge deployed LISP to help their I2 members.
