The Global Video Alliance: Multidomain Videoconferencing Around the World

Time 07/16/12 11:40AM-12:00PM

We do not host flash-based video files on our servers anymore. Please contact Web Support for further details about netcast videos.

Session Abstract

Maintaining a reliable and interoperable video dialing infrastructure around the world is a challenge, and layering on cohesive directory and scheduling functions is a bigger challenge still. For any solution to be effective, it must be truly multidomain and must be developed with broad community cooperation. Internet2 is working in partnership with several peer NRENs to achieve these goals. Specific goals include deployment and connection of common interoperable signaling layers, dialing plans, and bridging resources, and the creation of a common directory and scheduling application platform. Initial partners include Internet2, JANET, NorgeNet, and RedClara, with the goal of including all interested NREN peers in the future. This session will serve to present the details of this vision, the status of implementation, and opportunities for participation.
