As part of the new network deployment, Internet2 has decided to make four (4) waves available to researchers. That is, researchers can use up to four waves on each backbone link. With current technology, each wave
can operate at up to 100 Gbps. However, to accommodate more research projects, a wave can be subdivided into ten channels that each operates at 10 Gbps. The purpose of the "Research Wave Program" is to stimulate
innovative, transformative research uses of the network.
A subgroup of the Research Advisory Council (RAC) is soliciting input on the use of the waves. At this session, the Wave Program, your feedback, and the work of the subgroup will be discussed.
