Envisioning the Future of Advanced Regional and State Networks in the Broadband Era: Follow-on to the Salt Lake City workshop

Time 04/19/11 03:00PM-04:00PM

Session Abstract

Last fall a diverse group of 39 people gathered at the University of Utah for an NSF-supported workshop to consider the landscape and future requirements for advanced regional and state networks (ARNs). The attendees discussed how the ARNs play critical roles in supporting advanced cyberinfrastructure for research, meeting the increasing connectivity needs of community anchor institutions, and providing a broader public benefit through broadband advocacy, neutral interconnection venues, and public safety coordination. In this panel, we will discuss the outcomes of the workshop and include several panelists who made compelling contributions to the workshop.

This workshop was primarily supported by the National Science Foundation (award OCI-1102443) and hosted by MCNC, the University of Utah, and the Utah Education Network (UEN). For further information
