How Data Center Convergence, Virtualization and Cloud will impact optical DWDM networks. / Update on the Higher Education Cloud Demonstration Project
Time 04/19/11 01:15PM-02:30PM
Converged Infrastructure solutions transform IT technology silos into interoperable, shared pools of resources consisting of servers, storage and network connectivity. A common management platform manages and automates operations for all applications and infrastructure components which have a direct impact on optical networks within and between data centers and the Cloud. Converged Infrastructure components are virtualized to increase utilization and flexibility and are orchestrated to increase agility and reduce operational costs by flattening the data center. They are resilient to support mission-critical applications and increase business continuity. They should be based on open industry standards to provide choice. In this Panel, we will discuss with IBM, Equinix and Level3 their views on Data Center Convergence, Virtualization and Cloud and their impact on DWDM optical networks.+++++Randy Frank and Khalil Yazdi will provide an update on project developments, highlight accomplishments, summarize lessons learned and discuss potential future directions.
