Next Generation Optical Transport Networks

Time 04/19/11 01:15PM-02:30PM

Session Abstract

Over the last few years, network capacity demand has again surged, testing the limits of optical backbone equipment. Innovation in optical transmission has allowed a fast progression from 10 to 40 and now 100Gb/s. These advances were not trivial, requiring a combination of breakthroughs in optical components, signal processing and fiber plant engineering. Now that 100Gb/s is the standard, what comes next to meet an insatiable demand for capacity? In this panel, we will discuss several topics
